Albert Lea, MN—Members of the House Agriculture Policy and Finance Committees visited Albert Lea on Tuesday and took part in a tour of REG Biodiesel Refinery. The stop is part of a two-day tour of Southern and Western Minnesota by the Agriculture Committees to visit with Minnesotans and hear their concerns about the economy, regulations, and other state policies that impact agriculture and other associated industries.
Representative Bennett issued the following statement regarding yesterday's visit by the House Agriculture Policy and Finance Committees:
"This tour has given members of the Agriculture Committees a chance to hear directly from Minnesotans working in agriculture and other industries about their concerns and ideas for how we can make their lives easier in Saint Paul," Bennett said. "Agriculture and the businesses that support it provide good-paying jobs that support families and are drivers of rural economies. I'm glad the Agriculture committees were able to stop in Albert Lea and tour REG Biodiesel to learn more about this industry that's going to play an increasing role in agriculture and our energy future."
The two-day tour continues today with visits to the University of Minnesota Poultry Testing Lab and the MinnWest Technology campus, both located in Willmar, a working lunch at Jenny-O Turkey, a tour of Granite Falls Energy in Granite Falls, MN, and a tour of Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative in Renville, MN.
Members of the House Capital Investment Committee will be in Albert Lea today for a tour of Riverland Community College.
