ST. PAUL, MN – On Friday, legislative leaders in the House and Senate announced an agreement on a $275 million tax relief bill, with an additional relief of $550 million in subsequent budget cycles. The legislation contains significant provisions for Greater Minnesota including property tax relief for farmers and main-street businesses. Recent college graduates, military veterans, and middle-class families across the state will equally benefit from the proposal.
“Our current large budget surplus indicates that we are overtaxing our citizens,” said Rep. Peggy Bennett, R-Albert Lea. “I’m happy to see these provisions that will allow Minnesotans to keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets where they can choose how to spend it rather than the government making that choice for them.”
Each chamber must approve the agreement before the legislative session adjourns on Monday, May 23.
