ST. PAUL, MN— On Tuesday, Speaker Kurt Daudt, R-Crown, named Rep. Peggy Bennett, R-Albert Lea, as Vice-Chair of the Education Finance Committee. The committee will be chaired by Rep. Jen Loon, R-Eden Prairie.
Bennett, who was first elected in 2014, will be sworn in for her second term in January when the 2017 legislative session officially begins. Last session, Bennett was vice-chair of the Education Innovation Policy Committee, and also served on the Education Finance Committee.
“As a former teacher, I’m thrilled to continue using my experience in the classroom to help students throughout our state,” said Bennett. “It’s truly an honor to be named vice-chair of this committee, and I’m already looking forward to the start of session so we can get to work for students, teachers, and parents.”
Along with her appointment to the Education Finance Committee, Bennett will also serve on the Agriculture Policy, Capital Investment, and Education Innovation Policy Committees.
