RELEASE: Bennett sworn in as State Representative

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

SAINT PAUL, MN—Representative Peggy Bennett, R-Albert Lea, was officially sworn-in for her first term Tuesday as the legislature began the 2015 session in St. Paul. Legislators took the oath of office administered by Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court Lorie Gildea in the House Chamber. Bennett will represent District 27A which includes most of Freeborn County, as well as portions of Faribault, Mower, Dodge and Steele counties.

"I'm honored and very grateful for the opportunity to represent our community in St. Paul, and am ready to get to work on their behalf addressing the issues Minnesotans care most about," Bennett said. "People in Greater Minnesota want successful schools, good-paying jobs, and policies that strengthen our economy and help all of Minnesota—not just the Metro area. I will work with members of either party to accomplish these goals and other important issues at the Capitol."

Bennett, who was elected to her first term this past November, was named Vice Chair of the Education Innovation Policy Committee last month, and will also serve on the Education Finance Committee and the Agriculture Finance Committee.

Bennett lives in Albert Lea, where she has worked as an elementary school teacher for more than 30 years.

Constituents can contact Bennett by phone at 651-296-8216 or by email at rep.peggy.bennett@house.mn. Bennett's office is located on the fifth floor of the State Office Building in room 507. Mail can be sent to:
