ST. PAUL, MN -- Rep. Brian Daniels (R-Faribault), issued the following statement congratulating area 2017 Farm Families of the Year, Century Farms, and Sesquicentennial Farms.
“It’s great to see our local family farms recognized!” said Daniels. “Farmers are the backbone of our communities and they deserve recognition for their commitment to feeding our families.”
The Farm Family Recognition Program is coordinated by the University of Minnesota Extension; the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Sciences; and the College of Veterinary Medicine, and recognizes families from Minnesota's 87 counties who have made significant contributions to Minnesota agriculture and their communities. Farm Family recognition day will take place on Thursday, August 3rd at Farmfest.

The honoring of Century Farms is coordinated by the Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Farm Bureau; to qualify, the farm must have had continuous family ownership for at least 100 years and be on 50 acres or more.
