Dear Neighbors, Happy National Agriculture Week! Farming and the agricultural industry are huge parts of our local economy and way of life. If you see a farmer this week, thank them for their work and contribution to our state, country, and world. Fighting for Energy IndependenceThis week, I joined a group of Republicans in introducing a resolution to encourage President Biden to take steps to make the United States energy independent. With the war happening in Ukraine, and the price spikes we’re seeing at the gas pump, it’s never been more clear that we need to pursue a national policy of energy independence. With energy independence, we can make sure that our dollars aren’t funding the Russian war machine, and at the same time make sure that our energy prices aren’t dependent on foreign wars. Let’s get this done for America! Health FreedomLast week, House Republicans offered an amendment to a bill on the House floor that would ban vaccine mandates from being imposed by the Department of Human Services. This is an issue I’ve been working to address for months, but unfortunately, House Democrats blocked the amendment on a party-line vote. Personal health decisions should be left between a doctor and patient. Government should not be able to mandate vaccines or any other sort of medical procedure for the broader public. I will continue to fight on this issue, even as COVID-19 thankfully continues to fade into the rearview mirror. Plan your Visit to St. PaulAfter almost two years of closure, the State Office Building finally reopened to the public on March 21st. If I had things my way, the building would have been opened long ago. Nevertheless, it is great news that constituents will more easily be able to travel to St. Paul to petition their representatives in person. If you plan to be in St. Paul anytime soon, please reach out to my office to set up an appointment. It would be great to chat with you and discuss ways we can strengthen our communities and state! Staying in TouchPlease do not hesitate to reach out to me to share any thoughts or concerns you may have about state government or the job I'm doing as your representative. It would be great to talk with you. I can be reached by phone at 651-296-8237 or via email at rep.brian.daniels@house.mn. Have a great day, Brian |
