ST. PAUL, MN—House Republicans announced Tuesday their leadership team for the upcoming legislative session. Local State Representative Jon Koznick, R-Lakeville, was among those elected by his peers to serve as an assistant leader. This will be Rep. Koznick’s first session as a member of the House leadership team.
Rep. Koznick was first elected in 2014 and has quickly emerged as a leading voice on transportation policy and finance matters. He was author of a bill that provided a lane expansion on the Minnesota River Bridge in Dakota County as well as legislation that ensures additional transportation funding for Dakota County by re-dedicating .25% of the local sales tax that was previously shared with other metro counties.
"It is an honor to have the respect and trust from my peers and to be elected an assistant leader for the coming legislative session,” said Koznick. “I look forward to working with our newly elected leadership team to stand up for Minnesotans’ pocketbooks. Democrats are prepared to push their agenda of higher taxes, government run healthcare, and growing larger government. I remain as committed as ever to making sure that Minnesotans have the freedoms and opportunities to be as prosperous as they choose. I want Lakeville residents to keep more of their hard-earned money, afford their health care, and have access to great educational opportunities.”
In addition to serving as a state representative, Koznick is a small-business owner. Jon and his wife Patty live in Lakeville with their two young daughters.
