St. Paul, MN—State Representative Jon Koznick, R-Lakeville, issued the following statement after House DFL leadership tabled a transportation omnibus bill during Thursday’s floor session, instead taking up legislation that exempts 16- and 17-year-olds from the prohibition on operating amusement rides. Koznick planned to offer an amendment to the transportation bill to improve transit safety and security.
“During today’s floor session, we were prepared to take up and help pass a bipartisan agreement on transit security. Instead, House DFL leadership determined that amusement park rides are a higher priority than protecting the safety and security of Minnesotans,” said Koznick. “Significant security improvements are needed at Metro Transit as crime skyrockets across our public transportation system. It’s time to put policy over politics and prove to Minnesotans that we are serious about ensuring their families are safe when they use public transit.”
