St. Paul, MN—Minnesota’s 2022 legislative session began earlier this month and Rep. Jon Koznick, R-Lakeville, said that public safety, tax relief, election integrity, and parental rights in education will be a major focus at the Capitol this year.
“We are back in St. Paul for the start of another year serving Lakeville and the south metro in the state legislature,” said Koznick. “A top priority this session will be working with law enforcement to make sure they have the resources needed to keep our communities safe. The crime wave has impacted the entire Twin Cities area, including communities in the south metro and we must make sure that every Minnesotan feels safe in their neighborhoods.
“Other major issues will be returning the state’s nearly $8 billion budget surplus back to Minnesotans through structural, permanent tax relief. At a time when we are facing the impacts of inflation due to the Biden/Walz economy, it’s clearer than ever that tax relief is badly needed for family budgets, and to slow the growth of out of control spending. Additionally, I will be working to restore faith in our elections through commonsense measures like voter ID and banning ballot harvesting. Finally, we need to make sure that students stay in school for in-person learning this year and we must reject harmful, politically motivated curriculum and keep politicking out of classrooms. Now, more than ever, parents need to be fully engaged in their student’s education and I will always be a champion for parental rights.”
Representative Koznick is in his fourth term, serves on the State Government Finance and Elections Committee, Transportation Committee, the Higher Education Committee and on the Minnesota Latino Affairs Council board. He has also served on the Tax Committee and Jobs and Economic Development in past sessions.
Koznick lives with his wife and two daughters in Lakeville and graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Marketing degree. He previously owned a mortgage company in downtown Lakeville, worked for Frandsen Bank and now owns a small real estate investment company.
