St. Paul, MN—Legislation authored by State Representative Jon Koznick, R-Lakeville, was heard in the House Transportation Finance and Policy Committee on Tuesday afternoon. House File 2966 is a bill that would close a gap that prohibited some qualified and honorably discharged veterans to receive a veteran’s designation on a driver’s license.
“This is commonsense, bipartisan legislation that will make it easier for former servicemen and women to identify themselves as veterans with a state issued driver’s license or ID,” said Koznick. “Many businesses and organizations have promotions for veterans. Clearly identifying former servicemen and women via their driver’s license will make it easier for veterans to benefit from these promotions. I look forward to continuing to work to make sure this bill gets passed this year and becomes law. Our honorable service members have earned this designation, and it shouldn’t be difficult to obtain this from the state.”
Following its approval on Tuesday, HF 2966 now heads to the Labor, Industry, Veterans and Military Affairs Finance and Policy Committee.
