St. Paul, MN– State Representative Jon Koznick, R-Lakeville, has introduced legislation that would provide $4.2 million in funding for the design, engineering, planning, right-of-way acquisition, and construction of updates to the interchange at I-35 and County Highway 2 in Scott County—just outside Elko New Market.
“This bill introduction is an important first step that will start the process needed for improvements at this interchange to make current traffic use safer and support future capacity use,” said Koznick. “As Elko New Market continues to grow, along with increased usage from the region the last few years, it is critical that we make sure that infrastructure keeps pace with new and future needs. I am hopeful for legislative support to help improve road safety and incentivize economic development in Elko and the south metro area.”
The bill, House File 796, has been referred to the House Transportation Finance and Policy Committee where it awaits its first hearing.
