ST. PAUL, MN – Rep. Jon Koznick (R-Lakeville) released the following statement after Minnesota’s latest budget forecast showed that two years of unchecked Democrat spending have turned an $18 billion surplus into a nearly $6 billion deficit by Fiscal Year 2028-29.
"We often say Minnesota doesn’t have a revenue problem—it has a spending problem. But after Democrats grew the state budget by 40% last biennium, they’re now trying to shift blame for the growing deficit. According to them, the problem isn’t their reckless spending—it’s that taxpayers aren't paying enough to keep up with it! We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I am committed to working hard with my colleagues to pass a fiscally responsible budget without raising taxes on hardworking Minnesotans."
