ST. PAUL – State Rep. Jon Koznick’s (R-Lakeville) first bill of the legislative session, HF710, was heard in Thursday’s Taxes committee hearing. HF710 allocates fifty percent of the revenue from the Motor Vehicle Leasing Tax to the Greater Minnesota Transit budget, and the remaining fifty percent to the County State Aid Highway Fund for the metropolitan counties of Anoka, Washington, Carver, Scott, and Dakota.
“Thank you to my colleagues for their broad, bipartisan support of this important piece of transportation funding,” said Koznick. “This bill contains a significant portion of transportation funding, $70 million between the two funds, without raising taxes or increasing fees on hardworking Minnesotans statewide. This funding will help us more accurately address the transportation needs of our communities across the state. I’m optimistic to have this bill passed and included as a part of the broader Transportation package this year.”
Further action on HF710 is expected to follow later in the legislative session.
