ST. PAUL, MN – State Representative Dave Pinto (DFL – St. Paul) responded to Republican House Public Safety Committee actions taken on two bills he authored to prevent gun violence today by releasing the following statement:
“Today, the Republican majority chose not to move forward on two measures that would help to keep guns away from people who have shown themselves to be dangerous. Both of these measures are already in use in other states and have broad public support.
“This is a short legislative session. The bills were referred to the committee over a year ago. Minnesotans are demanding meaningful action to prevent gun violence and keep our communities safe. The time is now.”
Rep. Pinto encourages community members of St. Paul's Macalester-Groveland, Highland Park, and Fort Road/West 7th neighborhoods to contact him on any legislative issue. He can be reached by email at rep.dave.pinto@house.mn or phone at 651-296-4199.
