Dear Neighbors,
Today marks one week since I was sworn in as your State Representative. It’s an incredible privilege and honor to act as your voice at the Capitol. Here are a few items I wanted to update you on:
First Week Activities
I’ve been busy transitioning from a full time Hennepin County Attorney in the Domestic Abuse Service Center to working as a legislator. I’ve been attending committee meetings, floor sessions, and meeting with groups such as the Association of Metropolitan School Districts. You can check out this wonderful video from TPT’s Almanac about the record number of women serving in state government. You can see my daughter and me on the House Floor shortly after the 9:00 minute mark.

First Bills Introduced
I authored and introduced my first bills this week. The first bill I introduced was for the 694 / Rice Street interchange. Governor Dayton has also proposed that we fund upgrades to this interchange, so I’m hopeful this important project will finally become reality this year. I also signed on to a bill to help prevent sexual assaults by providing funding and education regarding consent.
My Office is Open
I want to make sure you know you can contact me about any issues that are important to you. I’ve made sure my office in St. Paul is welcoming not just to you, but to children, people with disabilities, and everyone in our district. Please don’t hesitate to contact me to schedule an appointment or share your concerns via phone or e-mail.
You call my office at 651-296-7153 or email me at rep.jamie.becker-finn@house.mn
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your voice at the Capitol,
Jamie
