SAINT PAUL – The Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy (MCEA) presented state Rep. Jamie Becker-Finn (DFL – Roseville) with the group’s “Trailblazer Award” last week, recognizing her leadership on environmental issues important to Minnesotans.
“I’m committed to doing all I can to protect our water, land, wildlife and air now and for future generations,” Rep. Becker-Finn said. “Protecting our environment is a fundamental responsibility we all have as policymakers. I look forward to continuing to work alongside incredible advocates like those at the MCEA to preserve and enhance Minnesota’s cherished natural resources and hunting and fishing traditions.”
The MCEA’s Trailblazer Award seeks to recognize legislators who distinguish themselves as strong environmental leaders in their early years of service in a legislative body. Rep. Becker-Finn, a freshman member of the Minnesota House serving on the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee, has fought to protect clean water and wild rice, supported legislation for hunters and anglers, and promoted renewable energy and other efforts to combat climate change.
Early efforts of the MCEA, founded in 1974, were to preserve wilderness canoe areas and to protect Minnesota’s wild lands from pollution. Rep. Becker-Finn was presented the award at a reception held at Modist Brewing Co. in Minneapolis.
