Dear neighbors,
It’s hard to believe we’re more than halfway through August, but that means that the Minnesota State Fair is right around the corner! The Great Minnesota Get Together is one of the biggest state fairs in the country and lots of fun for people of all ages. I’m looking forward to attending with my family and trying some new foods.
At last year’s State Fair, joined by Rep. Rick Hansen, Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, Governor Tim Walz, and Rep. Leon Lillie.
I’ll be at the House of Representatives booth on Thursday, August 22 from 10 a.m. to noon and Thursday, August 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. Please stop by the Education Building for a visit! Even if you can’t visit while I’m there, I encourage you to chat with other legislators and take the annual survey.
There are several locations in our area where you can park and take a bus straight to the fairgrounds for free. You can also ride on one of the State Fair Express buses or take a regular bus that stops near the fairgrounds. A guide to State Fair transportation options is available here.
Public Meeting Regarding Water Gremlin
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is hosting a public meeting to update residents on ongoing issues at the Water Gremlin manufacturing plant in White Bear Township. MPCA staff will share more information about recent tests that found high levels of TCE, DCE, and lead at the site and discuss steps that the agency is taking to address these developments. The informational meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 27 from 7:15 – 9 p.m. at Central Middle School in White Bear Lake. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Yesterday, Water Gremlin agreed to temporarily halt their use of DCE. The company plans to continue using DCE after a vapor mitigation system is installed. I will continue to provide updates and advocate for residents.
