SANT PAUL, Minn. - State Representative Jamie Becker-Finn (DFL - Roseville) has been appointed to the new House Select Committee on Racial Justice. The committee is responsible for examining disparities Minnesotans of color face in health, public safety, education, employment, housing, and other areas.
"I am committed to building a state where everyone has the chance to succeed, no matter where they live or what they look like," said Rep. Becker-Finn. "The House's new select committee represents our commitment to addressing the deep inequities that exist in our own institution and throughout Minnesota. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue this work."
In July, the Minnesota House of Representatives approved a resolution declaring racism a public health crisis. The resolution created the Select Committee on Racial Justice to analyze legislative work through an intersectional race equity lens.
The committee's first public hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at 1:00 p.m. The hearing will be broadcast live on the House website and House Public Information Services' Facebook page. The agenda can be found on the committee's webpage.
