Dear Neighbor,
Greetings as we make our way through the local festival season, with countless events in the area including another batch of parades. I was at parades in Bemidji and Walker recently and enjoyed seeing so many folks on hand. Hats off to all the volunteers who put in so much work to make our summer events so successful.
I also was in Walker earlier this week with fellow area legislators for a public meeting regarding transportation planning. In particular, we discussed ideas surrounding the future of Highway 371 as we continue working to determine the best course. The meeting was extremely well attended, with upwards of 100 people turning out. It was a cordial, productive event where good ideas were shared and I came away pleased with the feedback that was received.
The top objective on this subject remains to gather as much input as possible and this meeting was helpful in that regard. Similar meetings could be scheduled in the coming months to hear from even more citizens and local officials. Thanks again to those who took the time to attend the meeting. Stay tuned for more on this another time.
One other quick transportation note for your planning purposes: The Dept. of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services will have limited services statewide July 17-24 as it upgrades and replaces its computer system. Click here for the full DPS news release.
Until next time,
Matt
