SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Rep. Erin Koegel (DFL – Spring Lake Park) has been appointed to the new Opioid Epidemic Response Advisory Council that will guide efforts to combat the opioid crisis in Minnesota.
“It’s an honor to be appointed to the Opioid Epidemic Response Advisory Council,” said Rep. Koegel. “I’m looking forward to serving on the council and finding much-needed solutions. We must do everything we can to prevent addiction and help people succeed in recovery.”
The Opioid Epidemic Response Advisory Council will recommend projects and initiatives to receive funding from the Opiate Epidemic Response Fund, which is expected to collect $20 million each year through fees paid by drug manufacturers and distributors. It has 19 members, including legislators, health care professionals, tribal leaders, individuals who experience chronic pain, and those who are in long-term recovery from opioid addiction. The council will meet for the first time on Friday, September 27.
