SAINT PAUL, MN – First term State Rep. Fue Lee (DFL – Minneapolis) says legislative remedies are necessary to fix the FCC repeal of Net Neutrality as the 2018 Session approaches on February 20th. Rep. Lee issued the following statement:
“When my neighbors pay an internet service provider, they expect equal and unregulated access to the internet content that they choose. Cable and internet providers don’t have a great track record when it comes to trustworthiness, and my constituents don’t trust them to not create fast and slow lanes of use for the rich and poor. My neighbors want the legislature to make sure the internet works for everyone and that everyone has equal access. We need to be focusing our efforts in 2018 on expanding internet access and choices for consumers, whether they live in North Minneapolis or other parts of Minnesota. Corporate executives don’t need our help expanding profit margins for their shareholders.”
Rep. Lee said he will be working with Governor Dayton and other legislators to ensure that Minnesota acts on its own authority to maintain a free and open internet for Minnesota consumers.
