St. Paul, MN - Today, the House Capital Investment Committee completed their tour of proposed sites of state investment throughout southwest Minnesota, with a large portion of the stops and presentations focused on the region’s aging water infrastructure.
“Though we are a land of over 10,000 lakes, access to safe, clean, and convenient water is not a given throughout Minnesota,” said Rep. Fue Lee (DFL - Minneapolis) Chair of the House Capital Investment Committee. “All of our regional tours have shown the need to invest in water infrastructure, but this has been especially true in southwest Minnesota. Whether it’s in our homes, fields, or fisheries, the key to a healthy and productive Minnesota starts with the basic access to water we all deserve, and a robust bonding bill that makes that goal a reality.”
In addition to numerous wastewater treatment plants, water towers, and public utility sites, the committee also visited state colleges and universities, public safety facilities, community centers, and other sites (itinerary attached). Photos from the site visits can be accessed here.
