Rep. Lee Statement on the Targeted Community Capital Project Grant Program

Friday, October 22, 2021

St. Paul, MN - Today, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) began the process of seeking proposals for the Targeted Community Capital Project Grant Program. This new program aims to fund projects that result in providing, increasing, and/or expanding access to economic development, education or workforce development programs or services to underserved communities or economically disadvantaged persons or groups.

State Representative Fue Lee (DFL - Minneapolis), Chair of the House Capital Investment Committee and author of the legislation that established the program, released the following statement:

“While the struggles of the past 20 months have impacted everyone in some form, there are communities in our state that have been hit especially hard, and it’s too often the case that these same Minnesotans are left behind as the rest of our neighbors bounce back. The Targeted Community Capital Grant Program will help lift up Black, Indigenous, People of Color, low-income, and marginalized Minnesotans by giving them their fair chance to benefit from targeted investment in critical physical infrastructures in their communities.”

The targeted grants address needs for services such as job training, youth after school programming, health care, and educational support - services essential to thriving communities. Questions on the program can be submitted to Ann Meyers at ann.meyers@state.mn.us. DEED will post responses to frequently asked questions on DEED's Competitive Grants and Contracts page

All proposals must be received via email to AdultCompetitiveGrants.Deed@state.mn.us and time stamped received by 5:00 pm Central Time on Monday, December 6, 2021. Award recipients will be notified in January 2022.
