Dear Neighbors, We’re about a month into this year’s legislative session, and last evening we passed an important bill for Minnesota’s frontline workers off the House floor. During the darkest days of the pandemic, these are the workers that kept our state running. Many didn’t have a work from home option, and often put themselves and their families at risk in high-exposure jobs. The bill we passed would provide at least 667,000 frontline workers bonus checks of up to $1,500. We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude, which is why I was proud to vote for the bonus checks they earned. |
Shout out to the frontline workers that joined us yesterday! |
This is an incredibly important bill, but the vast majority of Republicans, especially the leaders in the Minnesota Senate, have so far refused to budge on this issue. Our state’s recovery was built on the backs of these workers, and they have more than earned these checks, which you can read more about below: |
Stay ConnectedYesterday’s bill was definitely the highlight of the week, but I also presented my bill to fund after-school programs in committee, which I previewed during last week’s legislative update. Whether it’s yesterday’s floor debate or a committee hearing, you can always find video recordings of our official work on House Public Information’s Youtube page or read about it on their legislative webpage. You can watch my bill presentation in the Education committee here. Thank you to Ignite Afterschool, students, and other advocates that joined me to testify in favor of this legislation. If you have any questions about my work in the House, the bills we’re hearing in committee, or what we’ve passed off the House floor, please feel free to reach out to me. You can reach me at 651-296-4262 or email at rep.fue.lee@house.mn. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,
