Dear Neighbors, With the 2024 Legislative Session over, I’ll be joining my fellow District 59 Legislators, Sen. Champion and Rep. Agbaje, this upcoming Tuesday to provide an overview of our work this year and answer your questions at our District 59 Town Hall. We’ll be at the Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) from 5:30-8pm. |
If you’re unable to join us in-person, a live stream will be available here, but I hope to see you there!
Holding Polluters AccountableYesterday, the Star Tribune ran a story on new laws to take on repeat polluters in Minnesota - laws that I helped write in the Minnesota House. You can check out the story here. |
For far too long, our community has grappled with the impacts of pollution, with little being done to reverse the effects and hold polluters accountable. This session, I was the lead author of new laws that are planting more trees, requiring consistent air testing, bringing zero-emission transit buses to the metro, and ensuring polluters pay a financial price for poisoning communities. Whether it’s the air we breathe or the water we drink, all Minnesotans - including future generations - deserve a life free of pollution. Efforts to reach that goal shouldn’t place the financial burden on impacted communities, but on the companies that profit from pollution. These new laws will increase penalties for repeat polluters, and require the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to craft strategies to hold the manufacturers of PFAS - a forever chemical - accountable for cleaning our water.
Stay ConnectedRegardless of whether you can join us on Tuesday, always feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have on our work in the Minnesota Legislature.
