St. Paul, Minn. – Today, Minnesota Management and Budget announced a new economic forecast showing a $9.25 billion budget surplus for the current biennium. The analysis does not incorporate inflationary costs or the various impacts of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. State Representative Laurie Pryor (DFL - Minnetonka) released the following statement:
“The strong budget forecast news today indicates our economy is heading the right direction, but many of our neighbors are still struggling because of economic challenges brought on by the pandemic. The record surplus means we can help everyone with rising costs of their lives. We can also improve the lives of all Minnesotans by investing in health care, education and child care costs which not only solve immediate problems, but set up our state for future success.”
