SAINT PAUL, MN – Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman announced the appointment of Rep. Laurie Pryor (DFL – Minnetonka) as the next chair of the House Education Policy Committee. Rep. Pryor, first elected in 2016, currently serves as vice-chair of the Early Childhood Finance and Policy Committee.
“Ensuring our children have a first-class education is one of the most important responsibilities we have as legislators,” said Rep. Pryor. “The pandemic was very difficult for our kids and educators. We have an opportunity to help our students with their social, educational, and emotional progress in the classroom, and to provide resources for our teachers. I am honored to accept this new assignment and look forward to the progress we can make moving forward.”
The full committee structure and list of chairs are available here. The complete committee roster will be announced in the coming weeks. The 2023 legislative session convenes in Saint Paul on January 3 at noon.
