Neighbors, Our second deadline for passing bills is behind us and our third deadline is next Tuesday preceding the Passover/Easter break. With the passage of budget bills out of committee, our legislative action going forward will largely take place on the House floor. This week, many of our committees rolled out their budget bills as our two-year state budget continues to take shape. The committees on which I serve were among those hearing budget bills. I chair the Education Policy Committee and our bill is now part of the overall education budget bill which we are working through in the Education Finance Committee. Likewise, the Human Services Finance Committee is also working on the budget bill. After our Passover/Easter break, House floor votes on all the budget bills will begin. Video of all hearings are available on House Public Information Services’ YouTube channel. Town Hall on Saturday, April 15Join Sen. Steve Cwodzinski, Rep. Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn, and our colleague from a neighboring district, Rep. Lucy Rehm and me for a Town Hall on Saturday, April 15. Veterans Day on the HillVeterans from throughout the state traveled to the Capitol on Thursday for Veterans Day on the Hill. At a Capitol Rotunda rally, Governor Walz addressed retired, prior service, military families, and supporters of our men and women who have served in the Armed Forces. I thank all the veterans who made their voice heard at the Capitol this week. Your service is appreciated and honored.
