REP. WEST SECURES FUNDING FOR HIGHWAY 65 IMPROVEMENTS IN BLAINE

Wednesday, June 23, 2021

ST. PAUL – Funding that will improve Highway 65 in Blaine will soon be on its way thanks to the efforts of State Representative Nolan West (R-Blaine).

In the transportation bill that passed Wednesday, $7 million in state proceeds will be allocated to address Highway 65 at the 99th Avenue intersection in Blaine. The $7 million will pave the way for federal grants for construction costs which will likely exceed $70 million. The bill was approved by the Minnesota House on a 112 to 21 vote.

“Improving Highway 65 has been my top priority since I entered the legislature, and I’m pleased House and Senate leadership recognized Highway 65’s importance and agreed to include it in the transportation finance plan,” West said.

West said this funding is part of the plan to rebuild Highway 65 from County 10 to Bunker Lake Blvd. Construction will start at latest by 2024.

West noted the City of Blaine secured grants to pay for a substantial portion of this Highway 65 project.
