ST. PAUL, MN — Following the Minnesota Senate’s Joint Health and Human Services Hearing on the dysfunction at the Department of Human Services, Deputy Minority Leader Rep. Anne Neu, R-North Branch, issued the following statement:
“On Monday, Governor Walz said DHS Acting Commissioner Wheelock would have answers on the ongoing issues at DHS. She absolutely did not.
“The Minnesota Department of Human Services is in disarray. Testimony today from the former medical director at DHS Dr. Jeff Schiff & current DHS compliance officer Faye Bernstein show ongoing incompetence and dysfunction within the state’s largest department. During their testimony, Dr. Schiff spoke about "unconscionable arrogance" from DHS leadership and Faye Bernstein, the employee in charge of contract compliance, was "too focused on compliance" and, for a time, was banned from DHS properties.
"This is simply unacceptable and we all deserve answers.”
