ST. PAUL, Minn. – The 2019 legislative session kicked off last Tuesday with legislators taking the oath of office, including Rep. Dave Lislegard (DFL – Aurora), who was sworn in to serve District 6B in the Minnesota House.
"I’m honored by the responsibility my constituents have given me, and look forward to the work ahead to improve the way of life for people on the Iron Range and throughout the state,” Rep. Lislegard said. “By fully investing in our schools, creating good-paying jobs, building a climate in which businesses can succeed, and making sure everyone has access to affordable health care, there’s no limit to the opportunities for prosperity we can build."
Formerly mayor of Aurora, Rep. Lislegard takes over for Rep. Jason Metsa who did not seek reelection. He has served as president of the Range Association of Municipalities and Schools and on the executive boards of the Laurentian Chamber of Commerce and Jobs for Minnesota.
Professionally, he works in business relations for Lakehead Constructors. Previously he worked at the former LTV Mine as a member of the United Steelworkers Local 4108 and worked jobs as a member of Laborers Local 1097.
In addition to Aurora, District 6B is composed of Iron Range communities including Virginia, Hoyt Lakes, Eveleth, Biwabik, Gilbert and several other cities and townships. This legislative session, Rep. Lislegard will serve as vice chair of the House Taxes Committee, and has spots on the following panels: the Commerce Committee, the Environment and Natural Resources Policy Committee, and the Greater Minnesota Jobs and Economic Development Finance Division.
Rep. Lislegard encourages his constituents to reach out with their ideas and feedback on any issue, or if they ever need assistance with state government. His Capitol phone number is 651-296-0170 and email is rep.dave.lislegard@house.mn.
