SAINT PAUL, Minn. – State Rep. Dave Lislegard (DFL – Aurora) issued the following statement regarding the Minnesota Court of Appeals’ decision to reverse key permits for the proposed PolyMet mine and order a contested case hearing:
“I’m extremely disappointed in today’s court ruling. Even if PolyMet and the agencies pursue the contested case hearing, the opponents will never be satisfied. In this ruling, the Minnesota Court of Appeals seems to be overreaching and minimizing the work of the dedicated agency professionals who have spent over 14 years following the process relying on science and facts. I expect PolyMet to take this to the Supreme Court and hope that the justices will base their decisions on the letter of the law and respect the work of the agencies.”
