SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Tuesday, Minnesota Management and Budget released a new economic forecast. According to MMB, Minnesota has a projected budget surplus of $17.6 billion.
Rep. Dave Lislegard (DFL – Aurora), incoming chair of the House Property Tax Division, issued the following statement:
“The budget surplus presents an amazing opportunity to put people before politics and get things done for Minnesotans. This session in the House Property Tax Division, I look forward to hearing from homeowners and renters, seniors, community leaders, small business owners, first responders and others about their priorities and to advance solutions improving their lives.
“Minnesotans deserve strong investments in excellent schools, good-paying jobs, more affordable health care, local government aid, and quality public infrastructure. While making these bold investments, we must also take a fiscally prudent, balanced approach and cut or eliminate some taxes – including property taxes and the social security income tax for seniors – and increase local government aid, items we agreed to last session on a bipartisan basis. I’m excited to get to work.”
