ST. PAUL – Lisa Demuth officially is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives after taking the oath of office Tuesday at the Capitol.
Demuth, a Republican from Cold Spring, was elected to the House in November and fills the District 13A seat Rep. Jeff, Howe, R-Rockville, vacated to run for the Senate. The district includes St. Joseph and Avon to the north, runs west to Paynesville and stretches south of Kimball.
“The swearing-in ceremony was an amazing experience, something I always will remember,” said Demuth, who served 11 years on the ROCORI school board. “It just brought a mix of emotions, especially the sense of gratitude I feel for the people of District 13A placing their trust in me to come to the Capitol and work on their behalf. This is an immense responsibility to serve in the House and I am committed to doing all I can to advocate for the people of our area. A great number of challenges await us this session and I am excited to participate in the process of finding solutions.”
Demuth has been selected to serve on three House committee divisions: Early Childhood Finance and Policy, Education Finance, and the Greater Minnesota Jobs and Economic Development Finance.
“These committee assignments really fit right in my wheelhouse,” Demuth said. “My background and perspectives will allow me to bring good, common-sense ideas to the table. I look forward to doing all I can to help make Minnesota an even better place to live, work, go to school and run a business.”
Demuth is married to Nick and they have four children. She co-owns and manages a commercial property. She said she encourages constituents to provide her with input throughout the year, especially during the session. She can be reached at her legislative office by calling (651) 296-4373 or by emailing rep.lisa.demuth@house.mn.
