Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help

Monday, February 11, 2019

To the editor,

I recently submitted a legislative column where I explained how, for me, serving as a State Representative always will be about the people. Today, I would like to expand upon that message.

Part of my column touched on my open-door policy and explained how constituent engagement is the cornerstone of my public service. Yes, this pertains to important issues which impact all of us one way or the other, whether we’re talking about the state budget, health care costs, our children’s education or any other broad issues.

What I also would like people to realize is that I also am here to help take on challenges that may be impacting you on a personal level. Did you encounter a permitting or regulatory snafu that needs to be resolved? Have you fallen victim to unintended consequences of state law? Are there licensing issues – such as with MNLARS – that have you spinning your wheels? The list goes on, but I am here to help.

One of the biggest criticisms of government is that sometimes one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing. I get it and, yes, I share your concerns. There are reforms we could achieve at the state level that would make life easier for all of us. We can work on those at the Capitol and, if you have any suggestions, I am all ears.

In the meantime, please feel free to let me know if there is anything I do to take care of any issues you may have involving the state. I will do my best to handle the matter myself, investigate the proper channels, or put you in direct contact with the right resources. Whatever it takes.

The best way to reach me during the legislative session is by emailing rep.lisa.demuth@house.mn, or by calling (651) 296-4373. And, as always, you are welcome to book an appointment to meet in my legislative office and talk about the issues.

Sincerely,

Rep. Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring
