ST. PAUL – State Rep. Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, issued the following statement today upon confirmation that District 13A resident Sgt. Kort Miller Plantenberg, of Avon, was among the three Minnesota National Guard soldiers who died in a helicopter crash near Kimball on Thursday.
“While I was not personally acquainted with Sgt. Plantenberg, the stories that are being shared in the wake of his passing truly paint the portrait of an American hero who relished his service to us as a guardsman,” Demuth said. “The loss of Sgt. Plantenberg is especially tough in such a closely knit community as ours, where we are not only mourning the passing of a soldier but also are saying goodbye to a friend, a neighbor and a family member. We continue to pray for those suffering this loss.”
