ST. PAUL – Rep. Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, announces Cold Spring is receiving $4 million in state funding toward drinking water system improvements to the water treatment plant, distribution system and wells.
The funding comes from the Minnesota Public Facility Authority in the form of a state special appropriation grant and is supported by $2,293,639 from the city.
“Congratulations to Cold Spring officials involved in submitting this successful grant request,” Demuth said. “Competition for these limited dollars is stiff and the city did well to present its plan. It is important that we maintain our critical infrastructure. Cold Spring’s award is a prime example of work the PFA strives to assist, with local taxpayers benefiting.”
Cold Spring’s funding is one of 12 grants the PFA recently issued statewide. Funding for all projects comes from a variety of PFA sources, including: the Drinking Water Revolving Fund, the Clean Water Revolving Fund, and the Water Infrastructure Fund, among other sources. In addition to the PFA, funding sources included the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and state and local governments.
The Minnesota PFA provides financing and technical assistance to help communities build and maintain infrastructure that protects public health and the environment and promotes economic growth. Since its inception in 1987, the PFA has financed over $5 billion in public infrastructure projects in communities throughout Minnesota.
