Demuth performs third House oath

Tuesday, January 3, 2023

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, performed her third oath of office in the Minnesota House of Representatives Tuesday as the 93rd Legislature was installed at the Capitol in St. Paul.

Demuth was re-elected to the House in November and represents a newly configured District 13A after a once-per-decade redistricting process adjusted legislative territories to compensate for population changes. Demuth also recently was elected House minority leader by her colleagues after serving as an assistant minority leader the last two years. In addition, Demuth will serve as the ranking minority member on the House Rules and Legislative Administration Committee.

“I am ready to roll up my sleeves, dig in and find common ground on this session’s biggest challenges so we can do what’s best for Minnesotans in this new biennium,” Demuth said. “I am honored to continue serving the residents of District 13A and officially welcome those who may be new constituents with updated district maps now in effect.”

New legislative district boundaries are drawn once per decade to accommodate for population changes and maintain balance in representation. While the district Demuth represents remains “13A” by name, the borders have been altered. The House’s official website (www.house.mn) features a “Who Represents Me?” search tool which can provide quick district clarification for specific addresses.

Demuth said District 13A residents can call her legislative office at (651) 296-4373 or email rep.lisa.demuth@house.mn to get in touch. She also provides periodic email updates and citizens can sign up to receive them on her personal page at the aforementioned House website.

“The feedback I receive from people in our area is crucial as I continue doing my best to advocate for our priorities,” Demuth said. “Please stay in touch as we make our way through this session and prepare to make decisions on this year’s most important issues.”
