Dear Neighbor,
A huge thank-you goes to everyone who helped with the recent ROCORI Area Food Shelf drive! It was fun to win the bi-partisan legislative bag-off, resulting in a $1,000 donation going to this great local cause! Below, representatives from the food shelf accepted the donation at Teal's Market in Cold Spring this week.
In other news this week:
National Farmer's Day
Farming is a tough way of life that comes with many challenges – which can make a successful harvest all the more rewarding. Here's wishing you all the best this fall and thanks for all your hard work to feed our state & nation this National Farmer's Day today!
Standing with Israel
The recent devastation that has occurred in Israel is horrifying. The US needs to give its full support as Israel defends itself from the terrorist attacks. Let's pray for peace and strength for the people of Israel.
Working on school safety
Republican members of the House and Senate public safety and education committees conducted a listening session with teachers, school officials, and members of law enforcement this week. The intent was for legislators to receive input regarding the impact the new state regarding school resource officers is having on school safety. The listening session came after the DFL has ignored repeated requests from House and Senate GOP committee leads for informational hearings to be held on the topic.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this meeting to share your thoughts on this very important subject. This issue will not be fully resolved until every district has been able to restore school resource officer coverage. We don't need to wait until the Legislature returns to the Capitol next year to resolve this issue. The majority should be working with us now to hold hearings and develop a legislative fix that can pass right away instead of continuing to delay while many schools remain without SRO coverage.
Until next time, thank you for your continued correspondence and let me know how I can help.
Sincerely,
Lisa
