ST. PAUL – State Rep. Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, was named Speaker of the House Tuesday when she returned to the Capitol to perform the oath of office to become a member of the 94th Legislature.

Demuth was re-elected to the House for a third term in November. She serves District 13A, encompassing Albany and other areas north of Interstate 94, the ROCORI cities, Paynesville in the southwest and Kimball in the southeast. She served as Republican Leader the last two years.

“I’m incredibly humbled by the trust that has been placed in me by the people of District 13A and my colleagues in the House,” Demuth said. “As a proud Minnesotan, I’m committed to working for the people who sent us to the Capitol to do the work. Our state is at a crucial point in time, and I look forward to tackling the challenges we face. I can’t thank my family and friends enough for the support they’ve shown me. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get working to improve the future of our state.”

Demuth said House Republicans recently shared a list of priorities for the 2025 legislative session. They include:

  • Stop the Fraud
  • Make Minnesota Affordable
  • Make Minnesota Safe
  • Raise Standards, Reduce Mandates
  • Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans
  • Build for the Future
