St. Paul, MN – Yesterday, legislative leaders in the Minnesota House, Senate, and Governor Walz came to an agreement on delivering workers’ compensation benefits to public safety and health care professionals sickened by COVID-19. The Minnesota Legislature will meet to pass the bill on Tuesday, April 7. State Representative Dan Wolgamott (DFL – St. Cloud) is the chief author of the legislation in the Minnesota House.
“We’re one giant step closer to being able to secure these hard-earned benefits for our frontline responders,” said Rep. Wolgamott. “These are the Minnesotans that are going to work every day in exposed environments in order to keep us all safe and healthy. Should they contract COVID-19, they can now focus on getting healthy instead of worrying about their paycheck. We’re going to be able to deliver the peace of mind these health care and public safety professionals deserve.”
Tomorrow, the House will reconvene at 12:00 PM and the Senate will reconvene at 2:00 PM. The language of the workers’ compensation bill that will be taken up can be found here.
