St. Cloud, MN - Yesterday, State Representative Dan Wolgamott (DFL - St. Cloud) held an emergency virtual town hall event on the recent COVID-19 economic relief proposals that will soon be put before the Minnesota Legislature. Attended by over 80 of Central Minnesota’s businesses leaders, workers, and residents, Rep. Wolgamott was also joined by Majority Leader Ryan Winkler and Rep. Mohamud Noor, the vice chair of the House Jobs and Economic Development Finance Division.
“As we prepare a critical economic relief package for Minnesota, I want to thank those that joined us last night to have their voices heard,” said Rep. Wolgamott. “As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, our local businesses are taking on a public health responsibility that they never asked for, and their sacrifice must be met with meaningful economic relief. Through our conversations, it’s clear that an eviction moratorium for commercial properties, an extension of unemployment benefits, and a balance of targeting and urgency with economic relief will be the make or break issues for our small businesses.”
The COVID-19 economic relief proposals continue to be crafted and negotiated, with the Minnesota Legislature expected to be called into special session to pass this legislation as early as this week. Rep. Wolgamott urges local business owners, workers, and constituents to continue to reach out to his office with any input they may have on economic relief proposals. Rep. Wolgamott can be reached at rep.dan.wolgamott@house.mn, or by leaving a voicemail at (651) 296-6612.
