St. Paul, MN - Today, Governor Tim Walz announced a timeline to end nearly all state COVID-19 restrictions by May 28, and end the statewide masking requirement once 70 percent of Minnesotans age 16 years and older get their vaccine, or by July 1. The announcement comes as more than 2.6 million Minnesotans have gotten their shot and the state is on track to vaccinate 70 percent of Minnesotans by the end of June.
State Representative Dan Wolgamott (DFL - St. Cloud) released the following statement:
“Minnesotans have been leading the nation in doing their part to curb the spread of COVID-19 and get the vaccine when eligible. Thanks to their hard work, and the leadership of Gov. Walz, we’re nearing the point where our businesses and gatherings can safely return to normal. A healthy summer with the people we cherish and the activities we love is on the horizon, and we can get there sooner - and ensure it lasts - by getting vaccinated if you haven’t already, and encouraging others to do the same.”
