St. Paul, MN - On Tuesday, September 28 at 6:30pm, State Representative Dan Wolgamott will hold a “Defending Democracy Town Hall” at Lions Park in St. Cloud. Joining Rep. Wolgamott will be Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon. Members of the community are invited to join and discuss voting rights and the state of our democracy.
“The deadly January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol wasn’t the end of conservatives’ efforts to destroy our democracy for their political gain,” said Rep. Wolgamott. “Elected Republicans in Minnesota are doubling down on Donald Trump’s baseless lie that the election was stolen to undermine Minnesota’s nationally respected election system. I won’t stand for it. I’m holding this Town Hall with Secretary of State Steve Simon to discuss ways we can combat voter suppression and defend your right to vote.”
Since the 2020 election, more than a dozen states have enacted laws to create unnecessary barriers for Americans to vote. As of today, over 400 voter suppression bills have been introduced in 49 states, including Minnesota.
