St. Paul, MN - State Representative Dan Wolgamott (DFL - St. Cloud), working in conjunction with Governor Walz, has introduced legislation to utilize a portion of the state’s budget surplus to deliver checks to Minnesota taxpayers.
“With a $9.25 billion surplus, we can afford to make direct payments to taxpayers while also investing in the critical needs of our state,” said Rep. Dan Wolgamott. “I’m proud to work with Governor Walz to put money in the pockets of Minnesotans as families cope with unprecedented rising prices and economic challenges.”
In the legislation proposed by the Governor and authored by Rep. Wolgamott, single tax filers would receive a one-time payment of $500, and married couples filing jointly would receive a one-time payment of $1,000. If passed, the stimulus checks could start arriving in mailboxes by late summer.
