SAINT PAUL, MN – Governor Tim Walz will lead a trade mission to the United Kingdom and Finland November 13-19, 2021. The Governor, along with First Lady Gwen Walz, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) Commissioner Steve Grove, and Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) Commissioner Thom Petersen, will lead the delegation’s stops in London and Helsinki to focus on increasing state exports, promoting Minnesota as a premier destination for foreign investment, developing new business opportunities, and strengthening existing ties.
The delegation will be comprised of representatives from approximately 30 businesses and organizations from Minnesota’s medical technology, food and agriculture, environmental technology, and educational sectors.
“Trade is an important part of our ability to grow our economy and I hope many small and mid-sized companies will take advantage of this opportunity to develop potential export markets for their businesses,” noted Rep. Kristin Robbins (R-Maple Grove). “Businesses who are interested can contact DEED directly to find out details. They have STEP grants available to match 50% of travel expenses and have specific initiatives for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). I am also happy to help through my office in any way.”
The application deadline is Friday, August 27, 2021. The online application can be found at mn.gov/deed/business/exporting/united-kingdom-finland/. All questions can be directed to Steve Riedel, Regional Trade Manager, at steve.riedel@state.mn.us.
