SAINT PAUL – Rep. Kristin Robbins (R-Maple Grove) is hosting a round table discussion with Dave Skoyholt, Systems, Communications, and Educational Interventions Principal from the MN Department of Labor and Industry (DoLI). The event will be held on Wednesday, October 4th from 1:00 – 2:30 pm at Medina Country Club.
“I have had many businesses and municipalities reach out to me with questions about the Earned Sick and Safe Time bill that passed the legislature this year,” said Robbins. “Although I did not support this new regulation on small businesses, it is going to take effect on January 1, 2024. This change will affect all employers and require a significant amount of new record keeping. Because I have heard from so many constituents, I have invited Dave Skoyholt from the MN Dept. of Labor come to our district to answer questions and explain in greater detail what businesses, cities and schools have to do to comply.”
Robbins encourages any employer or HR representative who will be managing this issue to attend the round table. Participants are encouraged to RSVP to Betsy.Ritzer@House.mn.gov for planning purposes, but it is not required to attend.
“This is a great opportunity to meet with directly with an official from the Dept. of Labor to get your questions and concerns addressed and to provide input to the Department of Labor & Industry as they implement the new law,” said Robbins. “I appreciate the Department’s willingness to come to our district and look forward to a productive discussion.”
