Maple Grove Representatives Advocate for State Funding for Community Center
Saint Paul, MN – Yesterday, Representatives Kristin Bahner (DFL– Maple Grove) and Ned Carroll (DFL– Plymouth and Maple Grove) met the House Capital Investment Committee during their 2023 Bonding Tour as they toured the Twin Cities Metro Area. The committee is touring sites for proposed capital investment throughout the state.
The committee heard a presentation from the City of Maple Grove which is seeking state funding to improve the Maple Grove Community Center. The center originally opened in 1997 and upgrades are needed to improve energy efficiency, increase sustainability, and install more effective temperature controls.
“The Maple Grove Community Center is such an asset to our community, and I thank legislators from the Capital Investment Committee for hearing about the needs of our city,” said Representative Bahner. “These upgrades are vital in making sure the community center can thrive for future generations. I am looking forward to advocating for this project during the 2024 legislative session to continue to make Maple Grove a fantastic place to live.”
“As a member of the Capital Investment Committee, I’ve seen firsthand how we work with local governments to fund projects that help people in our communities,” said Representative Carroll. “The Maple Grove Community Center is a great example of how investing in public spaces helps our cities. Last session I secured over $6 million for safety improvements to the Chankahda Trail and I am excited to get back to work in 2024 and continue delivering results for our district.”
Representative Carroll, who represents both Maple Grove and Plymouth, has been traveling around the state this fall on the Capital Investment Tour as a member of the committee. The City of Plymouth also has an expected bonding project proposal in 2024 to improve city facilities, including upgrading the Plymouth Ice Center.
