Dear Neighbors,
On Wednesday night, April 8 at 7 pm at the Ramsey County Library – Shoreview, you’re invited to attend an event I’m hosting to discuss issues surrounding immigration. “From Other Countries to Minnesota: A Community Conversation on Immigration” will give us an opportunity to examine the issue through reviewing the works of two Minnesota authors, both of whom will join us. Preeti Mathur wrote From Seven Rivers to Ten Thousand Lakes and Hudda Ibrahim wrote From Somalia to Snow.
You’re encouraged to read the books before the event so you’re fully able to participate in the discussion, but it’s not required to attend. Both are available to loan from the Ramsey County Library System or you can purchase them from a variety of online retailers. Also joining us will be Rep. Kaohly Her – one of my colleagues in the House from Saint Paul who immigrated to the U.S. from a Thai refugee camp at age four – and Michele Garnett McKenzie, deputy director of the Advocates for Human Rights.
