State Budget Forecast
Last week, the Legislature received Minnesota’s projected economic forecast for 2020-2021, showing a positive, one-time balance of approximately $1.3 billion. This estimate reflects current law, and is based on the most recent national and state economic data. What the forecast doesn’t include is the rate of inflation. One way we can plan responsibly for the future is by requiring inflation to be included in these twice-a-year estimates. I am planning to co-author legislation to enact this to ensure the most accurate numbers are reflected and considered in future fiscal planning.
However, it’s imperative we work from any estimate with caution, and by prioritizing investments that align with our state’s values, like good quality schools, safe and reliable transportation systems, and comprehensive and affordable health care for Minnesotans. The Minnesota Management and Budget Agency will announce a revised forecast in February.
What’s an important investment you’d like lawmakers to consider next year? Send me an email at rep.ginny.klevorn@house.mn or give me a call at 651-296-5511.
Thank you
All too often, an entire year goes by without showing our appreciation for those around us. The holidays are such a wonderful way to celebrate, show gratitude, and spread joy with those we care about. Thank you for all that you do to make Plymouth such a great place to live.
Please always feel free to contact me with any questions, input, or ideas. Don’t hesitate to let me know how I can be of assistance. It’s an honor to represent you at the Capitol!
Sincerely,
Ginny Klevorn
